Creating Your Own Dog Food at Home

You can know exactly what is going into your pet’s stomachs by creating your own dog food at home! Now you’re probably asking yourself “When will I have the time/money to buy groceries AND cook for my pet?” (Trust me, I ask the same questions with my own meals…)
Preparing food for your furry best friends doesn’t have to be a hassle nor a financial burden. Below is a fun, healthy, and budget friendly recipe to help create your own dog food at home.
DIY Chicken & Rice Bowl (for Dogs…)
Prep time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 45 minutes Total Time: 55 minutes

INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 cups of brown rice
- 1 Tablespoon of olive oil
- 3 pounds, turkey, ground
- 3 cups baby spinach, chopped
- 2 carrots, shredded
- 1 zucchini, shredded
- 1/2 cup peas, canned or frozen
DIRECTIONS:
In a large saucepan, add 3 cups of water. Cook rice of choice according to its package instructions; then set aside as you prepare the other ingredients.
Heat olive oil in large stockpot over medium heat. Add ground turkey. Cook until browned (3-5 minutes).
Stir in spinach, carrots, zucchini, peas and brown rice until the spinach has wilted and the mixture is heated throughout, about 3-5 minutes.
Allow to cool completely before dividing into freezer-safe containers.
